Bram & Chloe – part I
friday 2 september 2011
Today’s bride & groom bring me to Aalst, a first!
Bram awaits his bride at home with friends & family, the suns sets in and with this stunning view over the river, the day promises to be.. p e r f e c t! I must admit i am amazed when Chloe comes in, she wears a very simple but very elegant dress…she’s one of those women that has natural flair and elegance, i love it!
The Aalst city hall is a 10 minute walk away, an outstanding opportunity to get to know this city a little bit better. The city hall is another surprise, i didn’t expect it to be so…well..white and pretty and again..(in my defence; it is very well hidden.:-) At the exit, friends and family have done their very (véry) best to gather as much confetti and rice as possible…lovely!! (no matter what rules and restrictions there are..this is a tradition that should be kept alive
)
Today is a short shoot for me, Bram & Chloe will celebrate their legal wedding over diner with friends and family and the party ..is for tomorrow! to be continued…
Els & Kris
10 september 2011
Els & Kris chose a beautiful day to say ‘i do’. I know right away that today is going to be a good day, the welcome is warm, the bride is beautiful and everyone is very kind and relaxed.
After the ceremony in Kapelle-op-den-bos, we go to Kris’ parents in Breendonk for lunch and family pictures. Kris’ parents only live 5 minutes away from our picture location; the amazing and … dare i say epic location; the Duvel brewery
!!
I’ve driven by here so many times, and today is the day we get to go inside for pictures… It is different, it is original, the lighting is perfect and both Els & Kris enjoy a good Duvel – perfect!
Special thanks to the very kind people of Duvel for this private visit and thank you Els & Kris for the warm welcome, Joshua www.joshuadhondt.be
Anne & Christophe
27 august 2011
After two weekends ‘off’ i am completely back in shape for what is promising to be a very long day! I arrive in the early morning at the bride & grooms place, where Anne and her sister and mum are getting their make-up and hair done. The family gathers at home and when the boys have arrived there is still some time for some fun group pictures. Anne & Christophe get married in the city hall of Zaventem, it has a beautiful view, this is what i call something completely different!
After a difficult search for the right photo location the last months and weeks, we decided, last-minute, on M Museum in Leuven. I have seen many pictures taken in this place but for me…it is the first time. Whàt a nice museum, i love the light and the simplicity, perfect place for wedding pictures.
It is almost the start of diner when the rain comes, this was a perfect day, congratulations Anne & Christophe, Joshua www.joshuadhondt.be

Bart & Mike
6 august 2011
Today Bart & Mike get married! It is the first time i shoot a wedding in Dendermonde, a perfect opportunity to discover the city! Many friends and family came to the city hall and the sun is present; in every sence; a warm wedding! Congratulations Bart & Mike, Joshua www.joshuadhondt.be
Venue: Het Vaderland, Dendermonde
Martine & Joeri
16 july 2011
Martine & Joeri made their day a very special one! They home-made their thank-you gifts, flower confetti, guestbook, family photo album, and even more…their attention to detail is amazing, i love it!
We are incredibly lucky with the weather, we finish shooting our pictures in the high grass and flowers aside the Schelde just before it starts raining. One of my favourite images of the shoot is definitely the one where they run to the car in the upcoming rain
. We had the ‘Felix Pakhuis’ as our back up location, but there’s no such thing as making pictures ‘out in the field (literally)!
The ceremony takes places in the Salons Magnus in the centre of Antwerp, it is a meaningful and profound celebration, with many kind words and symbols, a real and personal alternative for a traditional wedding, nice!! Congratulations Martine & Joeri, Joshua www.joshuadhondt.be

Lien & Lorentz
9 july 2011 It has been over a month since Lien & Lorentz got married, blogging inspiration has been rare since a couple of weeks and like authors do deep thinking about the why of their writers’ block, i decided to do some deep thinking about my blog-block’ (!), and this is what i wanted to share with you.
Years ago, i read the following quote (i phrase it as i remember it); “if you want to get to know somebody fast, spit a mouth full of milk in his face”. I remember it made me laugh because i believed it was actually quite true … In some way, i think, getting married is similar; it brings out the best and worse, our true self, and all of that in one day.
These last few years, i have been amazed many times … by the loveliness, the kindness, the warmth, the caring and the sincerity of the people i have photographed. I see the effort and preparation, the thoughts and consideration that go into a wedding day when i meet a couple in advance. I can see the look in their eyes after the kiss or that speech.
And then there is the incredibly hard task of putting all the lovely things and thoughts into pictures and words…voilà, the blog-block’
I would like to thank Lien & Lorentz, for a great day, the warm welcome and the good care; (i got stung by 2 horseflies during the shoot in the fairytale-woods…but the location was magic, totally worth it!). Thanks to the talented little nieces for their amazing musical performance in church. Thanks to Lien’s father for the most moving choice of speech, i had to wink away a tear (well..or two three..)… Joshua – www.joshuadhondt.be
